Rheological Property Testing (Rheometer)

Measures flow and deformation under applied stress or strain. Provides viscosity, elasticity, and viscoelastic properties relevant to polymers, suspensions, and industrial formulations.

Laboratory bench for physical measurements

What the measurement provides

  • Viscosity
  • Elasticity
  • Viscoelastic properties

Sample requirements

  • State the nature of the sample (for example hazardous, volatile, or explosive).
  • Typically 10–50 mL in a properly sealed tube, placed in a ziplock bag.
  • Only liquid, semi-solid, gel, or fine suspension samples are acceptable.
  • Record material type, physical state, hazard information, shear rate, shear stress, temperature, duration, frequency, sample preparation, and the test required.

The official method named on the proforma is rotational rheometry (cone-plate).
