Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS)

A UV-Vis method for opaque or light-scattering solids such as powders. Light reflected from the surface in all directions is used to assess absorption, electronic structure, and optical bandgap of semiconducting materials.

What the measurement provides

  • Absorption properties of powders and solids
  • Electronic structure
  • Optical bandgap
  • Information used in photocatalytic and pigment studies

Sample requirements

  • State the nature of the sample (for example hazardous, volatile, or explosive).
  • Minimum sample quantity: 0.2 g, in an Eppendorf tube placed in a ziplock bag.
  • Only solid, powder, or thin film samples are acceptable.

Sample code, chemical composition, and analysis parameters.
