Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (PL)

A non-destructive optical technique used to probe electronic structure and crystalline quality. Electrons excited by high-energy photons emit light as they relax. Intensity and wavelength are used to determine bandgap energies and identify structural defects or impurities.

What the measurement provides

  • Bandgap energies
  • Indication of structural defects or impurities
  • Diagnostic information for semiconductors and advanced catalytic materials

Sample requirements

  • PL is listed as in the installation phase.
  • A published rate is marked Pending.
  • A PL proforma is not yet available.
  • Contact the facility before preparing a PL sample.

Availability should be confirmed with NS&TD before submission.
