Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis)

Measures absorption or transmission of light in the ultraviolet and visible regions. Used to quantify analyte concentration in solution and to investigate electronic transitions in conjugated systems or metal complexes.

UV-Vis spectrophotometer

What the measurement provides

  • Concentration of analytes in solution
  • Electronic transitions
  • Optical properties and bandgap energies

Sample requirements

  • State the nature of the sample (for example hazardous, volatile, or explosive).
  • Minimum of 5 mL of sample and 10 mL of reference.
  • Only liquid samples are acceptable.

Sample code, chemical composition, and analysis parameters.
